Harald got us up nice and early on both days; he told us he was going to get the roosters next door and put them beside our bedroom. I guess we were still adjusting to jet leg and time change. Harold, Doris and of course Flocke (the dog) embarked on our two day adventure. First stop, 14 Holy People church. Who would have thought a beautiful church and the first thing we see ....Bratwurst and Beer! From the church you could see the nuns and monks working in the garden. The grounds were gorgeous.
Then we made our way to Bamberg, located on the river Regnitz. Over 50% of the population are members of the United States Army. It is a small , quaint, Bavarian town. Why is this town so special? It is home of the one and only Smoked Beer! We sat in a German filled beer garden and guzzled the towns specialty. Harald says after two Smoked Beer, your feeling "really good."
After our Smoke beer we travelled the back country roads to find Germany's hidden secret; the worlds biggest schnitzle! We were both in heaven and really, really full.
The next stop was Nuremberg to visit Castle Nuremberg. It was gorgeous and over looked the entire city. The city was filled with food and gift vendors. That evening we went back to Kulmbach to visit my cousins house where she was having her daughters first birthday.
We had an amazing time our German family. We had so many laughs that we will forever cherish. We hope that they will make their way over to Canada for a visit.
Thank you Harald, Doris, Joshua and Flocke for showing us Germany and for letting us stay at your beautiful home.
Cheers,
Carmen and Carlo
